The EUROPEAN PHD NETWORK IN SOCIO-ECONOMIC AND STATISTICAL STUDIES (SESS), consisting of Sapienza University of Rome, Masaryk University of Brno, and Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest, announces a student conference to be held in Budapest on the 28th of May, 2024. The aim of the conference is to re-launch the activities of SESS, which were interrupted by COVID in 2020.

SESS is a network of collaborating PhD programmes in

  • sociology
  • economics
  • demography
  • and/or related fields.

The objective of the European PhD Network in Socio-Economic and Statistical Studies (SESS EuroPhD) is the scientific training of scholars who intend to dedicate themselves to academic careers or to serve as experts in national or international organizations where they are called to analyze social and economic data and address social issues with a broad perspective.

First- and second-year PhD students are expected to apply with papers addressing research problems in socio-economic and statistical studies.

The organizers provide accommodation for foreign students for two nights (27. 05 and 28. 05) and catering during the conference. Travel expenses should be covered by the participants.

Applicants should submit their short CVs and the abstracts of the papers to be presented by the 30th of March, 2024. Applications should be sent to the address of the Doctoral School of ELTE Faculty of Social Sciences:
