Pavel Pospěch is Associate Professor of Sociology at the Department of Sociology of the Masaryk University and Faculty Fellow of the Yale Center for Cultural Sociology. His research and teaching interests lie at the intersections of culture and society, with a particular focus on social theory, individualization, rural sociology and sociology of climate change. He is an active member of the European Society for Rural Sociology, where he served as the Chair of Scientific Committee for its 2023 congress. His works have appeared in the American Journal of Cultural Sociology, European Journal of Social Theory, Ethnic and Racial Studies, Journal of Rural Studies, Sociologia Ruralis and other outlets. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Department’s journal Sociální studia / Social Studies. Pavel Pospěch is the first editor of two volumes focusing on the rural-urban divide (Routledge 2022 and 2026) and the author of an award-winning popularization book Neznámá společnost (The Unknown Society, 2021).
