Petr Fučík focuses on research into the consequences and contexts of divorce. More generally, he works within the fields of family sociology and gender studies, occasionally exploring topics such as ageing and social stratification. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Ph.D. in Sociology from Masaryk University, where his dissertation was titled Divorce and Changes in Reproductive Strategies.

Since then, he has contributed to the publication of numerous academic articles and several books. At the Department of Sociology, he is responsible for teaching selected methodological courses (Research Methods in Sociology, Qualitative Text Analysis) as well as the course Family and Society.

He is also involved in coordinating the department’s applied research, including communication, preparation, and implementation of research projects for commercial, non-profit, municipal, and other organizations.
