PhD candidate position, Dissertation project: “The risks of death at extreme ages”
7. dubna – 20. dubna 2016
Contact: France Meslé and Nadine Ouellette
Project funded by SCOR Corporate Foundation for Science
The candidate will contribute to the research program of INED’s UR5, “Mortality, Health and Epidemiology” under the flagship project “Longevity and healthy ageing”. The dissertation project’s aim is to estimate the risks of death above age 90 and to assess how they have changed over time since the 1980s in Belgium, France, and Quebec. The work will be based on empirical verified data for the three study populations. In addition to providing better knowledge in terms of level for these risks of death, the results will shed further light on the age pattern of mortality at ages 90 and above, which continues to be the topic of much controversy. Moreover, the results will allow the formulation of hypothesis about future trends in mortality at old ages for the 21st century for the computation of new cohort life tables for France.
